HERITAGE APP LAUNCH

SAT 10TH MAY 10AM-2PM - CHURCH HALL

What's it All About?


We are launching our Newmilns Heritage App on Saturday 10th May 2025 between 10am - 2pm in the Church Hall.


We will have members of our Heritage Group on hand to help you download the App to your smart phone or tablet.

The new APP will encompass three heritage trails -


  • The Town Centre Trail - explore the historic buildings in the town, a charming mix of local history and scenic riverside paths
  • The Full Walking Trail - an extended walk around Newmilns including locations from the textile and industrial heritage of the town
  • The Football Heritage Trail - discover how Newmilns played a role in the development of Scottish football.


  • PLUS - Eye Spy & Challenges - a fun game for families to enjoy with clues hidden around the streets and a spooky graveyard treasure hunt at Loudoun Paris Church


As well as the walking trails, the App will feature the following:


  • A historical timeline of Newmilns from the current century back to 12 A.D. and earlier
  • Then and now views  to allow you to compare the difference over the years
  • Audio and video memories of the town
  • Links to local groups, events and businesses


Refreshments & Chat - Sat 10th May


On Saturday 10th May between 10am-2pm, enjoy refreshments while chatting about the history and heritage of Newmilns in the Church Hall.


We'd love you to bring along small heritage objects of interest to our Heritage Group and tell stories about the history of the town.


The Love Newmilns Heritage App was commissioned by the Newmilns Regeneration Association and developed by the Newmilns Heritage Group, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, to whom we are very grateful.


What if i can't make it to the App Launch?


Don't worry if you can't make it to the App Launch Event - we will be giving out a QR Code to allow you to scan and go directly to the download page, where you can download the App after the event. Watch out on social media or for posters around the town.


Walking Festival - Friday 9th May


The Heritage Group will also be in the CHaT Hub at Friday's Walking Festival (Friday 9th May) to help you download the App to your phone or tablet, with Ian Pollock and Sammy Truesdale leading two of the walks.
