Buckingham Palace Honours Voluntary Activities of Ayrshire Group.
Today, Saturday, 2nd of June 2018, Buckingham Palace in London announced that Newmilns Regeneration Association has been awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2018, which is the highest Award recognising excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the Community.
This Award represents a tremendous achievement for the Association, which was only formed as a charitable organisation in August 2014.
The work the Association does was very much admired by the independent Assessment Committee chaired by Sir Martyn Lewis, CBE. The award itself was created by The Queen in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of the Queen's Coronation, and is the MBE for volunteer groups.
The Newmilns Regeneration Association will be presented with an English Crystal and a signed certificate from Her Majesty The Queen by the Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, Sheriff Iona Sara McDonald in July.
Newmilns Regeneration Association is the first voluntary group in East Ayrshire with a Community Action Plan to be awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
