Darvel Music Festival 2015 runs from 1st May to 10th July in Darvel Town Hall
The 14th Darvel Music Festival kicks off with six fantastic concerts held between 1st May and 10th July in Darvel Town Hall. The festival is a community-led initiative run by a group of volunteers and everything they do is to assist with the regeneration of their Town and local area.
The first weekend will feature three great rock/blues concerts. 1st May the American Grammy Nominated blues, roots and gospel flavoured Heritage Blues Quintet will be ably supported by the wonderful Jo Harman band. The next night music fans will get the chance to enjoy the amazing British Blues All Stars which include Pick Withers of Dire Straits, Dave Kelly of the Blues Band and Zoot Money. The band will be supported by the raw R&B blues act TC and the Moneymakers. The weekend will end on a high as the Festival has a Scottish exclusive show from US country rock/blues guitarist David Grissom (he has toured and played with John Mellencamp, The Allman Brothers, The Dixie Chicks and Joe Ely). David will perform with his full band and supported by London-based blues/roots artist Sean Taylor.
Jazz-rock and blues acts will once again be highlighted in part two of the Darvel Music Festival concert series on the 19th and 20th of June. First up, we welcome back from Austin, Texas and Chicago, Illinois, Hamilton Loomis and the Larry McCray Band. This will be an amazing double bill by two of the best exponents of blues/soul and rhythm and blues and not to be missed!
On the 20th of June you will be in for a very special night! Larry Carlton of Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell and Crusaders fame will perform with his fabulous Quartet. The multi-Grammy award winner and 3rd best guitarist of all-time (as voted by readers of the prestigious Rolling Stone magazine) will make only his second appearance in Scotland in the past 35 years and both exclusive concerts have taken place at Darvel! One of the UK’s finest jazz/pop guitarists Nigel Clark will be supporting the Larry Carlton Quartet.
The concert series will finish on high on the 10th of July. Acclaimed soul/pop and rock vocalist Paul Carrack will perform with his eight piece band and will be supported on the night by soul/blues outfit Lights out by Nine and 80’s pop heart throb Owen Paul. Paul Carrack has sold millions and recorded many famous recordings including ‘How Long’ by Ace, ‘The Living Years, Silent Running and Over my Shoulder’ with Mike and the Mechanics and ‘Tempted’ by Squeeze amongst many others.
